Title Description Convenors
Earth Systems in the Anthropocene Human activity has had a major impact on the workings of all parts of Earth’s system, including sedimentary processes and dynamics of mountains, coasts and rivers; soils and biochemical cycles; mining and extractive industries; groundwater; and geohazards. This session considers the past, present and future patterns, processes and impacts of human (anthropogenic) impacts on different elements within the Earth’s system; how such impacts can be identified from geologic records; and the role of human activity in changing the workings and management of Earth systems. A particular emphasis in this session is on the workings of Earth surface systems and processes in different physical environments on local to global scales. Jasper Knight
