| Major Mineral Deposits of Africa (sponsored by Vale) | World-class mineral deposits are becoming increasingly challenging for companies to discover, secure and develop. As a continent, Africa has vast mineral resources with a number of geological belts having been identified as having considerable potential for holding world-class mineral deposits. However, there have been relatively few world class mineral discoveries in Africa in comparison to other parts of the world. This Symposium will provide a forum to discuss world-class and major mineral deposits in Africa. Papers will be delivered on recent developments concerning the understanding of the geology of major mineral deposits in Africa. The workshop will also discuss recent major mineral discoveries in Africa, examining the geological concepts and challenges leading to such exploration successes. | Bede Evans |
