| Detrital Zircons in Basin Analysis: Provenance Reconstruction, Chronostratigraphy, Sediment Routing | With the development of new technologies in the past 10-20 years (e.g. ELA-ICP-MS) that permit analysis of large populations, detrital zircon dating is now widely used in basin analysis. The purpose of this symposium is to investigate different applications of detrital zircon dating including but not confined to: characterization of provenance locations and compositions, recognition of important stratigraphic boundaries in the rock record (e.g. Permian-Triassic, Cretaceous-Tertiary), and reconstruction of sink to source sediment routing pathways. | Ken Eriksson and Amy Weislogel |
