Trace element analysis of minerals: applications in ore geology

Trace element analysis of minerals (sulphides, oxides, rock-forming minerals and accessories) is becoming increasingly commonplace as economic geologists seek new methods for understanding how an ore may have been formed or been transformed. Trace element analysis of specific minerals is also useful in mineral exploration, since signatures in a single mineral are often more sensitive to changing conditions than in whole rock, and in mineral processing, as a guide for optimization of processing. This session seeks cutting-edge papers on all aspects of trace element analysis of minerals, including new techniques, methodologies, applications to understanding ore genesis, mineral exploration and ore processing.
